Atelier Materia was born from friendship and a shared love for making.

Founded by Susanna and Adriana, our studio brings together two creative worlds: Susanna’s delicate, hand-painted porcelain and Adriana’s sculptural objects and installations.

We offer a range of ceramics and sculpture courses — from hands-on technique classes to workshops focused on specific themes. It’s all about learning, experimenting, and nurturing your creative spirit.

Portraits in clay - Porträt modellieren

Discover the art of portrait sculpture in this hands-on course! You’ll learn the fundamentals of head anatomy, explore expression and proportion, and bring a lifelike character to clay. Step by step, you’ll build a solid structure, sculpt a portrait, and prepare your work for ceramic firing. No prior experience needed—just your curiosity and creativity.

The course takes place in 6 sessions of 2,5h.

Dates for the next course are: Fridays 24.04.- 29.05.2026, 17:30-20:00

All materials and the first firing are included in the course.

3 weeks after the course has ended, you can pick up your fired portrait.

You can choose to glaze your portrait and do a second firing for an additional price.

Miniature Saturday

Come explore the magical world of miniatures. In this 3-hour workshop, you'll learn how to work with porcelain on a small scale. You can come with a photo of your pet, neighbor’s dog, or a pic of a Berliner rat, or can come with a free mind and we will hand inspiration at Atelier Materia.

The workshop provides you with all the necessary materials (porcelain and underglazes), as well as glazing and firing service.

Ideal for one time workshop for miniature enthusiasts or repetitive once a month miniature retreat.

Slip-casting workshop - Arbeiten mit Giesston

Explore the creative possibilities of slip casting in this practical 4- week workshop.
You’ll learn how to make a simple plaster mold, pour and cast liquid porcelain, and experiment with underglaze decoration techniques. Guided step by step, you’ll produce your own porcelain slip cast pieces —functional or decorative, expressive, and entirely handmade.
Perfect for beginners and makers interested in ceramic design and surface decoration.
